Irrevocable life insurance trust
A type of irrevocable trust used to hold life insurance. When a life insurance policy is held in an insurance trust, it can be protected from estate taxes when the insured dies; provided the trust is established properly, managed properly, and the insured does not retain any impermissibly “incidents of ownership.”
